Today the children in Y3 have been planning a narrative based on the character Snorgh! The children had thought of some good reasons why Snorgh had to ask for help from the Lightning. I will look forward to reading the completed narratives!

VE Day Celebrations

Learning No Comments »

This week at Pathways we are learning about World War 2 and the VE Day celebrations. The children will learn about how it must have felt to be living during such difficult times and how the end of the war marked such a momentous occasion. We will be dressing up on Thursday afternoon to celebrate our own VE Day by having a Pathways street party.

Today we have had our SPAG test which was amazing. We had 57 minutes for the test in the Principal’s office. It was a fair test and we wish that we could do this again by Havana and Hishaam.

What an achievement!

Learning No Comments »

It is always wonderful when parents contact me to share the amazing achievements of our pupils outside of the academy. On Saturday two of our pupils; Addison (Y3) and Maisie (Y1) took part in a 5k charity race. The children participated in the Colour Dash race to raise money, and awareness of, Bluebell Wood children’s hospice. I’m so proud of the children for giving up their own time to help support those less fortunate than themselves. Well done Addison and Maisie, and Mum, of course! It will be lovely to share your achievement in our Proud Moments assembly on Friday and for everyone to see the medal that you received.

Daniel’s Day

Learning 1 Comment »

Today has been a special day at Pathways as we have been celebrating that Daniel, a year 5 pupil, is in remission from leukaemia. We celebrated by having a non uniform day and wearing clothes in Daniel’s favourite colour  – blue. Mellows canteen cooked Daniel’s favourite food for lunch – hot dogs and shortbread for pudding. Everyone brought £1 to be able to not wear uniform and all the money raised will go to Daniel’s favourite charity; Ben’s Den, which takes children who are suffering from an illness on holiday. What a wonderful day to recognise how unique and special we all are at Pathways.  We are all so very proud of Daniel.

Well done to my reading group today for showing a good level of understanding when retrieving information from a text and demonstrating how to infer and deduce information. Keep up the hard work!
